When to make the run
In July and August the meltemi is at its strongest, so the captain times the passage for the morning calm and lets the afternoon blow pass at anchor. In June and September the wind is lighter and the crossing is easy at any hour. A fast hull gives you the flexibility to wait out a windy morning and still reach Mykonos for dinner. Whatever the month, the captain reads the forecast and may route via Kea or Kythnos for shelter and a swim.
