Frequently asked
About this charter type
Are gulets sailing yachts?
Technically yes (masts + sails) but in practice gulets cruise primarily under engine at 7-8 knots. The sailing is aesthetic rather than functional on most modern gulets.
Greek vs Turkish gulet?
Greek gulets are Greek-flagged, MYBA-contracted, EU-regulated. Turkish gulets are typically cheaper but have flag-state restrictions on Greek itineraries. Most charterers wanting all-Greek itineraries pick Greek-flagged gulets.
Best region for gulets in Greece?
Dodecanese (Symi, Rhodes, Kos) is the natural gulet area - calm waters, authentic villages, less yacht traffic than Cyclades. Some gulets work Cycladic itineraries from Athens base.
