Ios sits exactly midway between Mykonos and Santorini in the southern Cyclades - a 30 nautical mile reach from each, which makes it the natural overnight on the great Aegean downwind sail. Most charter clients pass through Ios and miss what's actually there. Charter clients who slow down find Manganari Bay on the south coast (the cleanest white-sand anchorage in the Cyclades, accessible only by yacht or a long winding road), the dramatic Hora climbing the hillside above the main harbour, and a UHNW-discovered restaurant scene that's matured fast since 2021. Ios in 2026 is what Paros was in 2018 - high-quality without the saturation, with anchorages still empty enough to feel private. When to Visit Ios
June and September are Ios's strongest charter months - water 22-24°C, Hora atmospheric without August's youth-travel surge, Manganari anchorage uncrowded. July and August Ios attracts its traditional young-traveler crowd in the Hora; the yacht-set anchorages (Manganari, Tris Klisies) stay quiet because they're accessible only by yacht. May and October are workable for hardier charterers but the Hora restaurant scene contracts.

- Manganari Beach is the must-anchor. Arrive early afternoon for the lunch swim, stay for dinner on board with the bay turning gold at sunset.
- Tris Klisies on the south-east coast is the discovery anchorage - three small protected bays, completely empty most weeks, sandy bottom.
- Hora dinner: Katogi or Lord Byron, both UHNW-set. Reserve 48 hours ahead in August; walking the chora paths after dinner is the experience.
- Skip the Hora's main square nightlife - that's the backpacker scene. The yacht-set rooftops are further into the warren of streets.
- Ios → Santorini is 30 nm with prevailing Meltemi astern: 3.5 hours under motor, 4 hours under sail. Plan dawn departure for the Santorini caldera arrival in afternoon light.
