Value, not cheapness
Where Is It Cheapest to Charter a Yacht? The Case for Greece
A broker who only holds Greek rate cards cannot price the Caribbean for you. He can tell you exactly what a crewed week in Greece costs, and why the Saronic and the Ionian are where the value is.

Why the value is in the Saronic and the Ionian
Best suited for
- Groups of couples sharing one yacht and one price
- Families who want the Ionian's calm water at the low end of the APA
- First-time charterers who assumed a crewed week was out of reach
- Anyone comparing a Greek week with a day-rate holiday elsewhere

When the value is best
May, June and late September: the shoulder months list below peak on many cards, the sea is warm, and the islands are not full. Peak weeks for July and August 2027 are being contracted now, in the autumn of 2026; the five and six cabin yachts go first. Nine to fourteen months ahead for a peak week, six to nine for June and late September, three to four for May and October. Booking early buys first choice of yacht and week rather than a discount.
George's insider notes
- A five-night Saronic week from Athens is the least expensive crewed programme on the list, and the shortest this house writes.
- Anchoring is free; a marina berth in high season is not. A captain who knows the bays saves you real money inside the APA.
- Ask for the yacht's certified VAT rate before you compare two quotes; a 5.2 percent yacht and a 12 percent yacht differ by thousands at the same base.
- The gratuity is on the base, not on the all-in figure; on a EUR 17,000 week that is EUR 1,700 to 2,550.
Frequently asked
Questions we get about Where Is It Cheapest to Charter a Yacht? The Case for Greece
Where is it cheapest to charter a yacht?
This house holds Greek rate cards only and does not price other countries. Within Greece, a crewed week costs least in the Saronic Gulf and the Ionian: short legs, calm water, anchoring most nights, and VAT at the yacht's certified rate of 5.2 to 12 percent. The crewed floor is EUR 17,000 a week net base, from about EUR 22,000 a week all in, with the APA and the VAT included and the crew gratuity at your discretion.
Is Greece cheaper than the Caribbean for a yacht charter?
This house cannot say, because it does not hold Caribbean rate cards and will not quote a figure it cannot stand behind. What it can say is the Greek number exactly: from EUR 17,000 a week net base, crewed, with VAT at 5.2 to 12 percent.
What is the cheapest crewed yacht in Greece?
On the current rate cards, a 15 metre sailing catamaran for eight guests with a crew of two or three at EUR 17,000 a week net base; all in about EUR 22,000 with the APA and the VAT, before the gratuity.
Is a crewed charter cheaper than a hotel for a group?
This house does not price by the head, because the charter is one price per yacht. Eight guests on a EUR 17,000 catamaran share one figure for the yacht, the crew and the insurance; the arithmetic is yours to do.
Which months are cheapest?
May, June and late September on many cards list below the July and August rate, and the sea is already warm in June. The weeks also hold availability longer.
