Why the cheap months are the good months
Best suited for
- Couples and friends without school dates
- Repeat charterers who have done August and want the better month
- Value-minded parties who want the entry week under EUR 20,000 all in
- Americans who can travel in September and want the warmest water in the Mediterranean
When the cheap months go
September on the most requested yachts goes nearly as early as August; June and May hold longer and are decided three to six months ahead. Peak weeks for July and August 2027 are being contracted now, in the autumn of 2026; the five and six cabin yachts go first. Nine to fourteen months ahead for a peak week, six to nine for June and late September, three to four for May and October. Booking early buys first choice of yacht and week rather than a discount.
George's insider notes
- Ask for the yacht's own September rate from her card; the 15 to 25 percent is most cards, not all.
- The second half of September carries the step-down on most cards; the first half is often at peak.
- May is for the Saronic and the Ionian; the Cyclades water is still cool.
- A September week on a five-cabin catamaran with a chef is decided in the winter, not the spring.
