Frequently asked
About this charter type
How early do August weeks on the largest yachts commit?
Close to a year ahead for the yachts above 45 metres, and through the winter and spring for the 35 to 40 metre class; on the Greek Charter Index we recommend six to twelve months for any peak week and a year or more for premium yachts above 40 metres. On this desk, 26 of the 57 dated enquiries received between 30 May and 6 September 2026 were already for 2027. If August 2027 on a specific yacht matters, it is decided in the autumn and winter of 2026.
How much does a superyacht charter in Greece cost in August?
Per yacht per week before VAT and APA, from each yacht's own rate card: IDYLLE EUR 59,900 to 75,000, BROOKLYN 60,000 to 75,000, PANDION 62,000 to 72,000, BLUE SYMPHONIE 78,000 to 99,000, CAN'T REMEMBER 80,000 to 90,000, NORTHWIND II 83,300 to 110,000, KINTARO 85,000 to 110,000, ONCE MORE 89,000 to 99,000, PAREAKI II 98,000 to 115,000, RIANA II 105,000 to 125,000, KOKOMO NIGHTS 120,000 to 140,000, NAIA 135,000 to 150,000, ELYSIUM 162,500, LA PELLEGRINA 1 180,000 to 235,000. Add APA of 30 to 40% of the base, VAT at 5.2 to 12% by the yacht's certification, and a customary 10 to 15% crew gratuity on the base. August is the peak rate card; there is no August discount at this size.
Can a superyacht in Greece take more than twelve guests?
Only as a certified passenger ship. Twelve is the line most charter yachts are licensed for, and every named yacht above sleeps ten or twelve except ELYSIUM, a 64 metre passenger-certified ship for up to 49 guests at EUR 162,500 a week. For fourteen to twenty guests on conventional yachts, two hulls sail together, each priced from its own rate card.
Where does a superyacht go in August?
The Cyclades, because the hull can carry the Meltemi: Mykonos with Ornos at 6 to 12 metres, excellent shelter from the north, and Psarou at 8 to 15 metres for Nammos; Delos by tender in visiting hours; Paros on the west side at Parikia, Meltemi-protected, or Soros on Antiparos, excellent from every direction; Ios at Manganari, 4 to 10 metres over sand and protected from the north wind; Santorini on the caldera mooring buoys at Ammoudi, where the water is 80 to 180 metres deep and no anchor holds, or alongside at Vlychada, which takes yachts to 60 metres; Milos at Adamas, 5 to 10 metres, the most reliable lee on the island.
What about August 2027?
The conversation starts now. Owners settle the 2027 rate cards through the autumn of 2026 and the first calendars open earlier for repeat clients; the yachts above 45 metres commit their August weeks first. We do not publish a fill percentage because we do not hold the fleet's calendars, only our own quotations and the owners' replies; what we can say is that the request for August 2027 arrived on this desk in August 2026.
Are there alternatives to August?
Late September in the Cyclades and October in the Saronic. Same warm water, the Meltemi gone, and the same yachts at 15 to 25% below peak on the Greek Charter Index, with three to four months of lead time rather than a year. Most repeat charterers at this size prefer those windows, and the anchorages above are theirs alone.
Fast or classic for an August week?
Both are on the list. PANDION at 28 knots cruising, CAN'T REMEMBER at 25, PAREAKI II at 21 and KINTARO and RIANA II at 20 cross the open Cyclades stretches before the afternoon wind builds and carry stabilisers or size for the anchorage; NORTHWIND II, KOKOMO NIGHTS, BROOKLYN, BLUE SYMPHONIE and IDYLLE are displacement classics at 10 to 12 knots that plan longer mornings and reward the party that wants the profile in the harbour photograph. The rate card, not the speed, is what August decides.
Who should I charter a superyacht in Greece through?
Ask first what the person recommending it stands to gain. No yacht above is one we are paid to fill, so the order on this page is size, not a sales sheet, and if the right hull for your dates is not on it we say so. George Yachts Brokerage House LLC is a Wyoming company working out of Athens, an IYBA Charter Active Member, and the contract is MYBA-form with the base fee, APA, the yacht's certified VAT rate and the gratuity range itemised before you sign.
