When the large yachts book
Above 40 metres, peak weeks commit a year or more ahead; the August 2027 weeks on the largest yachts are being spoken for now. Peak weeks for July and August 2027 are being contracted now, in the autumn of 2026; the five and six cabin yachts go first. Nine to fourteen months ahead for a peak week, six to nine for June and late September, three to four for May and October. Booking early buys first choice of yacht and week rather than a discount.
George's insider notes
- Flisvos is the marina for the larger yachts in Athens; Alimos takes most of the list. Both are twenty-five minutes from the airport.
- Santorini has no real anchorage for a large yacht; see the caldera from the water in the afternoon and sleep at Ios or Folegandros.
- Ask for the yacht's stabilisers at anchor, not only under way; eight on this list have them.
- A 40 metre yacht in the Ionian is rarer than in the Cyclades and finds every bay empty.
