The Mediterranean, honestly
Where Are the Best Yacht Destinations in the Mediterranean?
Greece, Croatia, Italy, the French Riviera, the Balearics and Turkey each have a case. This is a Greek house; here is the case for Greece and a fair word on the others.

When to decide on Greece for 2027
The Cyclades weeks in July and August go a year ahead; June and September, the best months in the water, are 15 to 25 percent below peak on most cards and hold longer. Peak weeks for July and August 2027 are being contracted now, in the autumn of 2026; the five and six cabin yachts go first. Nine to fourteen months ahead for a peak week, six to nine for June and late September, three to four for May and October. Booking early buys first choice of yacht and week rather than a discount.
George's insider notes
- Choose the sea by the water you want: the Ionian and Dalmatia for sheltered, the Cyclades and the Balearics for open, the Riviera for the show.
- Greece's three grounds mean three different weeks on one rate card; a repeat charterer never has to repeat.
- September is the warmest water in the Mediterranean and the month the Greek owners keep for themselves.
- Ask any house for the all-in week on four lines before you compare seas; the base fee alone compares nothing.

Where are the best yacht destinations in the Mediterranean?
Greece for the islands and its three cruising grounds, Croatia for the Dalmatian coast, Italy for Amalfi and Sardinia, the French Riviera for the superyacht summer, the Balearics for the water, Turkey for the Turquoise Coast. Greece takes roughly 30 percent of Mediterranean summer charter bookings.
Which Mediterranean destination is best for a first charter?
Greece's Saronic from Athens: sheltered, two hours from the marina, Hydra and Spetses, with the crewed fleet based at the door; from about EUR 22,000 a week all in for eight.
Which is cheapest?
This house holds rate cards for Greece only and will not quote the others; in Greece a fully crewed week starts at about EUR 22,000 all in per yacht, and the VAT on a weekly crewed charter is invoiced at 5.2 to 12 percent by the yacht's certification.
Which has the warmest water?
The Aegean and the Ionian in September, at 25 to 26 degrees Celsius.
Greece or Croatia for families?
Both are sheltered; the Ionian in Greece and the Dalmatian channels in Croatia are close in character. Greece adds the Saronic and the Cyclades for the second and third weeks.
