Why a show placing is the one award that matters on a charter
Best suited for
- Charterers for whom the galley decides the week
- Families who want a crew that has been judged, not just described
- Three or four couples choosing between two similar catamarans
- Anyone who has had a mediocre chef on a charter and will not again
When the placed catamarans go
A catamaran with a first place in the chef competition is the first to be asked for by name; her July and August 2027 weeks go in the autumn. Peak weeks for July and August 2027 are being contracted now, in the autumn of 2026; the five and six cabin yachts go first. Nine to fourteen months ahead for a peak week, six to nine for June and late September, three to four for May and October. Booking early buys first choice of yacht and week rather than a discount.
George's insider notes
- Ask whether the chef who placed is still aboard for your week; this house checks before it quotes, and says so in the proposal.
- Tablescaping sounds decorative until you have eaten eight dinners at that table; it is the crew's attention made visible.
- Designer Water is the show's award for the water sports programme: toys, instruction and the crew's patience with beginners.
- A placed catamaran at EUR 20,000 is better value than an unplaced one at EUR 25,000; the placing is what you are paying for.
Frequently asked
Questions we get about Award-Winning Catamaran Charter in Greece
Which catamarans in Greece have won awards?
Fifteen on this house's list: ABOVE & BEYOND, ALENA, CRAZY HORSE, ELLY, ChristAl MiO, APHAEA, SAMARA, SAHANA, AD ASTRA, PI 2, KIMATA and SERENISSIMA at the EMMYS; NOVA, AZUL and SAMELI at the MEDYS. Every placing is on the awards register with its source.
What are the EMMYS and the MEDYS?
The East Mediterranean Multihull and Yacht Show and the Mediterranean Yacht Show, the spring charter shows where crews cook, lay the table and present the yacht to brokers, who judge the chef competition, tablescaping, crew and water sports aboard.
How much does an award-winning catamaran cost to charter?
From EUR 17,000 a week net base for the placed 15 metre class to EUR 77,000 to 90,000 for the 24 metre flagships, fully crewed, on the current rate cards; from about EUR 22,000 a week all in, with the APA and the VAT included and the crew gratuity at your discretion at the entry.
Does the award follow the yacht or the crew?
The crew. A placing in the chef competition belongs to the chef who cooked it; this house confirms the crew for your week before it quotes a placed yacht.
Are the awards verifiable?
Yes. Every placing is recorded on the awards register with the show, the year and the category, and nothing is claimed that the show did not publish.
