August is the most requested month on every Index band, and the largest yachts commit first. APA runs 30 to 40% of base on motor yachts; on a EUR 200,000 week that is a working float of EUR 60,000 to 80,000. Every rate above is per yacht per week before VAT and APA, from the yacht's own card.

Sample itinerary

7-day skeleton

1. Day 1

   Embark Mykonos · Ornos

   Board in the afternoon and anchor at Ornos, 6 to 12 metres over sand with excellent shelter from the north wind and a tender dock ashore. The first night in the lee, with the town a short ride away.

2. Day 2

   Delos by tender · Psarou

   Delos in visiting hours, roughly eight in the morning to three in the afternoon, the yacht lying off in 10 to 18 metres while the tender runs the party to the site. Afternoon at Psarou, 8 to 15 metres over sand, for Nammos and the beach service to the yacht.

3. Day 3

   Paros · Antiparos, Soros Bay

   South in the morning calm to the Antiparos channel. Soros Bay on the south of Antiparos is 6 to 12 metres over sand with excellent holding and shelter from every direction, arguably the clearest water in the Cyclades; Naoussa is the pretty village but open to the Meltemi, so the night is spent at Soros or on the Meltemi-protected west side at Parikia.

4. Day 4

   Ios · Manganari

   Manganari on the south coast of Ios, a wide sandy bay in 4 to 10 metres, well protected from the Meltemi and open only to the south. The calm night; the port at Yialos has excellent shelter too, but August nightlife on the quay.

5. Day 5

   Santorini · the caldera

   Mooring buoys at Ammoudi below Oia, where the caldera is 80 to 180 metres deep and no anchor holds, for the sunset; or alongside at Vlychada on the south coast, the marina that takes yachts to 60 metres, with Akrotiri and Red Beach by tender. The caldera basin shields most winds.

6. Day 6

   Milos · Adamas

   West to Milos and into Adamas Bay, 5 to 10 metres over mud and sand, the most reliable lee on the island in the Meltemi and the all-weather base for a morning on the yacht's own tender or a car to Sarakiniko.

7. Day 7

   Return Mykonos · Kalafati or Ornos

   The long run north in the morning calm. Last night at Kalafati on the east coast, 6 to 10 metres over sand and the best Meltemi shelter on Mykonos, or back at Ornos for the town; disembark in the morning, helicopter or ferry to Athens.
