George's Inside Info

D2 is the boat for the client who wants a catamaran's stability and a motor yacht's reach, and she is honest about both: sixteen knots, and a hundred and sixty litres an hour. Use that speed to get to Milos, where Kleftiko can only be reached from the sea, and have the jacuzzi on the bow to yourselves at anchor afterwards. The twenty two square metre master is the cabin people remember, so give it to whoever is hosting.

The Yacht in Detail

D2, a 2024 Fountaine Pajot Power 67

D2 is a power catamaran, built for the guest who likes everything about a catamaran except the pace. She was delivered in 2024 and cruises at sixteen knots, which turns the western Cyclades from a week of patience into a series of mornings.

The master suite is twenty two square metres, the size of a good hotel room, and forward of the saloon there is a lounge with a jacuzzi for two. The flybridge adds another thirty two square metres under a hardtop.

Eight guests and a crew of four

One master suite and three doubles, all en suite and fully air-conditioned, for eight guests. Her crew is four: a captain, a deckhand, a chef and a stewardess. The galley is down and out of sight, so the main deck belongs to the guests.

At the stern a hydraulic platform lifts the tender and lowers to the water, and after dark the underwater lights come on. The toys are the full set: a Highfield 460 tender with a 60 horsepower outboard, two Seabob F5s, two Seascooter Infinity scooters, water skis, a wakeboard, towables, a kayak, paddleboards, and fishing and snorkelling gear.

Where she belongs

The Cyclades, further out than a sailing catamaran would take you. At sixteen knots Kea is two hours from Athens on the first evening, Sifnos and Milos sit in the middle of the week, and no leg runs much past two and a half hours. She burns a hundred and sixty litres an hour to do it, which is worth knowing when you plan the expenses.

Her draft is only 1.15 metres, so she anchors in water that deeper yachts of her size have to stand off from. For eight guests who want space, speed and a jacuzzi on the bow, she is the one.

A Sample 7-Day Route

What a week aboard P/CAT D2 can look like

Total: 209 NM

  1. Day 1· 33 NM

    Athens (Alimos)Kea (Vourkari)

The first of the Cyclades and the closest to Athens, oak covered rather than bare rock. Reckon on two hours from the last berth.

  2. Day 2· 39 NM

    Kea (Vourkari)Syros (Ermoupoli)

Two and a half hours at her cruising speed. Marble streets, a working shipyard and a proper town that does not close in October.

  3. Day 3· 33 NM

    Syros (Ermoupoli)Sifnos (Vathi)

Sifnos cooks better than anywhere else this size in the Aegean, and it has been doing it for a century. Two hours on passage at 16 knots.

  4. Day 4· 17 NM

    Sifnos (Vathi)Milos (Adamas)

An hour under way. Sarakiniko looks like nowhere else in Greece, and it is a fifteen minute tender from the anchorage.

  5. Day 5· 43 NM

    Milos (Adamas)Kythnos (Kolona)

Kythnos keeps its own hours and the anchorage at Kolona is the reason people come back. Reckon on two and a half hours from the last berth.

  6. Day 6· 22 NM

    Kythnos (Kolona)Cape Sounion

An hour and a quarter at her cruising speed. The Temple of Poseidon stands on the headland above the anchorage, and it has been the last sight of Attica since 440 BC.

  7. Day 7· 22 NM

    Cape SounionAthens (Alimos)

Home to Alimos with the day still in front of you, bags packed at leisure in the morning. An hour and a quarter on passage at 16 knots.
