The Yacht in Detail

There is a particular kind of charter party that ELLY was built for, and it is not the loudest one. Eight people, four cabins, three crew, and a boat that does not pretend to be a superyacht. What she does instead is get the ordinary things right: the master bed is between a queen and a king rather than a queen with ambitions, every cabin has its own bathroom, and the flybridge is big enough that half the party can be up there while the other half is swimming and nobody feels crowded.

She was built in 2023 and she lives at Floisvos, which is the marina closest to central Athens and the shortest transfer from the airport of any base we use. That matters on day one, when a family has flown overnight and the difference between forty minutes and ninety is the difference between swimming that afternoon and not.

The number I would draw your attention to is 11.5 knots. It is not fast. A Cycladic passage that a 20 knot motor yacht eats in an hour will take ELLY closer to two. In exchange she burns a fraction of the fuel, which comes out of your APA rather than ours, and she is quieter at anchor than anything with that much interior volume has a right to be.

The boat

ELLY is a Fountaine Pajot Power 67, built 2023, measuring 20,36 m / 67 ft. She takes 8 guests in 4 cabins with 3 - Captain, Chef, Stewardess/Deckhand aboard, and she works out of Athens (Floisvos Marina).

She cruises at 11.5 knots. That number matters more than it looks on a charter: it decides whether a Cycladic hop is an hour of the morning or half the day, and it decides how much of your APA goes into the fuel tank rather than into dinner.

Accommodation

One master cabin with a bed between queen and king size, and three double cabins with queen beds. All four have private facilities.

The crew

Captain Vangelis Atzemian, Chef Markos Vasiliadis, Stewardess and Deckhand Giota Nikou. Three crew is a working ratio rather than a pampering one, and I would rather say so now than have you discover it on day two. It is the right number for a party that wants to be looked after well and left alone the rest of the time.

What a week costs

The base fee is €48,000 in high season, july and august, €43,000 in mid season, june and september, €34,000 in low season, october to may. Those are the yacht only. On top of them sit Greek VAT at 6.5%, which is this yacht's certified rate rather than a national flat rate, and an Advance Provisioning Allowance of 25% per cent of the base.

The APA is not a fee. It is your money, held by the captain and spent against receipts on fuel, food, drink, berths and anything else the week actually consumes. Whatever is left comes back to you at disembarkation. The MYBA contract we write on fixes how that account works; it does not fix the percentage, which is why you will see 20 to 40 per cent across our fleet depending on how thirsty the boat is.

Crew gratuity is customary rather than contractual, and the MYBA guideline is 10 to 15 per cent of the base fee, calculated on the base and never on the total. Nobody will ask you for it and you decide at the end of the week.

On deck and in the water

She carries 10 categories of water toy, listed in full further down this page. The ones that change a week rather than decorate a brochure: highfield 4.20 sport tender with 70 hp outboard, 2 x seabob, 2 x stand-up paddleboard. Everything is checked and working at handover, and anything that needs a licence is flagged before you board rather than after.

What the fee includes, and what it does not

The charter fee covers the yacht with all her equipment in working order, the tender and the water toys, the crew's wages, food and uniform, the yacht's insurance, laundry of the ship's linen, and the cleaning and consumable stores. That is the MYBA standard and it is what you are actually buying.

It does not cover fuel for the engines, generators or toys, your food and drink, berthing and harbour dues, water and electricity taken from shore, agents' fees, personal laundry, or shore transport. All of that runs through the APA against receipts. If the yacht is chartered from a port other than her home base there is a relocation charge, and for Santorini specifically the central agent adds one day because of the logistics there.

Who she suits

Two or three couples, families of eight who want a fast passage between islands, and anyone who values a quiet night at anchor over a long cruising range.

George's note

ELLY is the one I put forward when eight guests want a power catamaran and nobody wants to compromise on the master cabin. The inflatable sea pool matters more than it sounds: four metres square of netted water means children swim off the stern in open anchorages without anyone standing guard. Her cruising speed is 11.5 knots, which is honest rather than impressive, and it is the reason her fuel bill inside the APA stays civilised.

A week aboard

The itinerary below is a real working route of 168 NM, not a brochure loop. It moves with the prevailing wind and it can be reversed, shortened or thrown away entirely: the captain decides each morning on the actual forecast, and that is the point of a crewed week.
