George's Inside Info

RIANA II was a World Superyacht Awards finalist in 2015 as the first SL118 built, and she still reads new. Twenty knots of cruise means Mykonos before lunch instead of after dinner. Eight crew on ten guests is the ratio that makes a week feel effortless. She runs 105,000 to 125,000 euros per week.

The Yacht in Detail

M/Y RIANA II is a 37 metre Sanlorenzo, the first hull of the SL118 line, and she reached the finals of the World Superyacht Awards in 2015 in the semi-displacement two-deck class between 30 and 38 metres. She did not win it. She was one of six yachts in the world judged worth putting in front of the panel that year, which is worth more than most sentences written about most yachts.

Ten Guests, Eight Crew, Five Cabins

Five cabins for ten guests and a crew of eight, on 281 gross tons. Twenty knots of cruise with twenty-eight available, so the Cyclades open up: a yacht that can cross to Mykonos after breakfast changes what a week can hold.

Where the Space Actually Is

The SL118 puts its volume outside. Expansive decks, shaded and open in the right proportion, and the kind of aft deck that takes the whole party at one table. Inside she is recent rather than ornate, which is what most guests now ask for and what a 2015 hull delivers naturally.

The Week She Is Built For

A family or a group of friends who want the Cyclades at pace, with the crew depth to make it effortless. She works equally well on the quieter Saronic loop when the meltemi is up, and she is one of the few yachts of her size that will still be comfortable doing it.

A Sample 7-Day Route

What a week aboard M/Y RIANA II can look like

Total: 258 NM

  1. Day 1· 48 NM

    Athens (Alimos)Kythnos (Kolona)

Kythnos keeps its own hours and the anchorage at Kolona is the reason people come back. Reckon on two and a half hours from the last berth.

  2. Day 2· 33 NM

    Kythnos (Kolona)Sifnos (Vathi)

Just under two hours at her cruising speed. Sifnos cooks better than anywhere else this size in the Aegean, and it has been doing it for a century.

  3. Day 3· 30 NM

    Sifnos (Vathi)Paros (Naoussa)

The marble here built half of classical Athens, and the quarries are still open to walk into. Ninety minutes on passage at 20 knots.

  4. Day 4· 21 NM

    Paros (Naoussa)Koufonisia

An hour under way. One village, a few tavernas and beaches you reach on foot or not at all.

  5. Day 5· 32 NM

    KoufonisiaMykonos (Ornos)

Anchor off Ornos rather than fighting for the new marina, and take the tender in for dinner. Reckon on ninety minutes from the last berth.

  6. Day 6· 37 NM

    Mykonos (Ornos)Andros (Batsi)

Just under two hours at her cruising speed. The island has rivers and walking paths, which after four bare islands is a change.

  7. Day 7· 57 NM

    Andros (Batsi)Athens (Alimos)

The run back up the coast, Athens on the bow, and the last night alongside. Three hours on passage at 20 knots.
