The Yacht in Detail

Ten guests in five cabins on a 67 foot catamaran is a configuration people ask for constantly and rarely find, because most boats this size are laid out for eight. APHAEA has five proper double cabins, each with its own bathroom, and that is the whole reason she exists on this list.

She takes her name from the temple on Aegina, which stands in a pine grove above the sea about twenty miles from where she is berthed. It is the best preserved Doric temple in the Saronic and almost nobody goes, because the day boats run to Hydra instead.

Built in 2023, she carries twin Volvo D3 engines that burn 46 litres an hour, and she makes her own drinking water, still and sparkling, as part of the owner's decision to keep plastic bottles off the boat. There is a defibrillator aboard, which at this size is rarer than it should be and which I check for on every boat I put in front of a family.

The boat

Aphaea is a Fountaine Pajot Alegria 67, built 2023, measuring 20,36 m / 67 ft. She takes 10 guests in 5 cabins with 3 - Captain, Chef, Deckhand/Stewardess aboard, and she works out of Athens (Marina Nea Peramos).

Accommodation

One master cabin with a bed between queen and king size, and four double cabins with queen beds. All five have private facilities.

The crew

Captain Michalis Kassaris, Chef Dionisis Mihailovits, Deckhand and Stewardess Christos Paslamouskas. Three crew is a working ratio rather than a pampering one, and I would rather say so now than have you discover it on day two. It is the right number for a party that wants to be looked after well and left alone the rest of the time.

What a week costs

The base fee is €43,500 in high season, july and august, €41,000 in mid season, june and september, €33,500 in low season, october to may. Those are the yacht only. On top of them sit Greek VAT at 6.5%, which is this yacht's certified rate rather than a national flat rate, and an Advance Provisioning Allowance of 20% per cent of the base.

The APA is not a fee. It is your money, held by the captain and spent against receipts on fuel, food, drink, berths and anything else the week actually consumes. Whatever is left comes back to you at disembarkation. The MYBA contract we write on fixes how that account works; it does not fix the percentage, which is why you will see 20 to 40 per cent across our fleet depending on how thirsty the boat is.

Crew gratuity is customary rather than contractual, and the MYBA guideline is 10 to 15 per cent of the base fee, calculated on the base and never on the total. Nobody will ask you for it and you decide at the end of the week.

On deck and in the water

She carries 10 categories of water toy, listed in full further down this page. The ones that change a week rather than decorate a brochure: t/t highfield 4.60 tender with 70 hp outboard, seven persons, 2 x seabob f5, 2 x stand-up paddleboard. Everything is checked and working at handover, and anything that needs a licence is flagged before you board rather than after.

What the fee includes, and what it does not

The charter fee covers the yacht with all her equipment in working order, the tender and the water toys, the crew's wages, food and uniform, the yacht's insurance, laundry of the ship's linen, and the cleaning and consumable stores. That is the MYBA standard and it is what you are actually buying.

It does not cover fuel for the engines, generators or toys, your food and drink, berthing and harbour dues, water and electricity taken from shore, agents' fees, personal laundry, or shore transport. All of that runs through the APA against receipts. If the yacht is chartered from a port other than her home base there is a relocation charge, and for Santorini specifically the central agent adds one day because of the logistics there.

Who she suits

Groups of ten who want one boat rather than two, multi-generational families, and charterers who care that the water they drink was made aboard.

APHAEA has it, with a defibrillator aboard and water made on board rather than carried in plastic. I will tell you the honest limit: three crew for ten guests is a working ratio, not a pampering one. If your party expects a stewardess at their elbow all week, take one of the four-crew boats instead and I will say so before you book.

A week aboard

The itinerary below is a real working route of 146 NM, not a brochure loop. It moves with the prevailing wind and it can be reversed, shortened or thrown away entirely: the captain decides each morning on the actual forecast, and that is the point of a crewed week.
