George's Inside Info

SEABARIT LX is the catamaran I reach for when a client says ten guests but will not accept a shared bathroom. Five cabins, five heads, and a 2024 hull finished like a good hotel room rather than a rental. Have dinner on the flybridge the night you anchor off Kolona on Kythnos, where the sandbar goes quiet once the day boats leave, and ask the crew to bring the Seabobs out the next morning before anyone else is in the water. At nine knots she does the western Cyclades comfortably. She is not the boat for a week that has to include Santorini.

The Yacht in Detail

SEABARIT LX, a 2024 Moon 60 built around her flybridge

Most sixty foot catamarans are designed from the saloon outwards. SEABARIT LX reads the other way. The saloon opens straight onto the foredeck and the aft deck, and above it sits a flybridge with its own seating, a bar and a dining table, under a hardtop that carries solar panels. Her builder describes the sundeck as the largest in her category, and standing on it you understand why they lead with it.

She was launched in 2024. The interior is finished in leather, Alcantara and natural wood, which is a different register from the white laminate most charter catamarans are fitted out in.

Ten guests, five cabins, every one of them en suite

A master and four doubles, each with its own bathroom, so ten guests share nothing but the view. That is the arithmetic that matters for five couples travelling together, or two families: nobody is handed the cabin with the shared head. Her crew of three, a captain, a chef and a stewardess, live in separate quarters.

The water side is handled properly for a boat of this size: two Seabob F5 underwater scooters, paddleboards, water skis for adults and children, a wakeboard, towables, and a 3.9 metre tender with a 60 horsepower outboard. The wide swim platform at the stern is where most afternoons end.

Where she belongs

The western Cyclades, taken at an unhurried pace. She cruises at nine knots on thirty litres an hour, which puts Kythnos, Andros, Mykonos and Syros inside comfortable days from Athens without a single passage that runs past the afternoon.

If you want a new catamaran with a considered interior rather than a floating apartment, and ten guests who each have their own bathroom, she is the one I would show you first.

A Sample 7-Day Route

What a week aboard S/CAT SEABARIT LX can look like

Total: 204 NM

  1. Day 1· 22 NM

    Athens (Alimos)Cape Sounion

Anchor under the temple, which is what boats crossing between Athens and the Cyclades have always done. Reckon on two and a half hours from the last berth.

  2. Day 2· 22 NM

    Cape SounionKythnos (Kolona)

Two and a half hours at her cruising speed. Kythnos keeps its own hours and the anchorage at Kolona is the reason people come back.

  3. Day 3· 32 NM

    Kythnos (Kolona)Andros (Batsi)

Batsi is a sheltered bay on the west coast, and Andros is green in a way the rest of the group is not. Three and a half hours on passage at 9 knots.

  4. Day 4· 37 NM

    Andros (Batsi)Mykonos (Ornos)

Four hours under way. Little Venice at sunset, the windmills above it, and the boat lying quietly round the corner.

  5. Day 5· 19 NM

    Mykonos (Ornos)Syros (Ermoupoli)

Marble streets, a working shipyard and a proper town that does not close in October. Reckon on two hours from the last berth.

  6. Day 6· 39 NM

    Syros (Ermoupoli)Kea (Vourkari)

Four and a half hours at her cruising speed. Vourkari's quay takes a stern line and the tavernas are a hundred metres from it.

  7. Day 7· 33 NM

    Kea (Vourkari)Athens (Alimos)

Home to Alimos with the day still in front of you, bags packed at leisure in the morning. Three and a half hours on passage at 9 knots.
