What Are the Best Yacht Charter Companies for a Family-Friendly Sailing Trip in the Aegean Sea?
Children change the brief: the crew, the catamaran, the bays and the distances. What a company should answer, and what this one does.

Why a family changes the brief
Best suited for
- Two families with children sharing a five-cabin catamaran
- Three generations who want the flat anchorage and the shallow bays
- A first family charter, in the Saronic, two hours from Athens
- American families who want a United States contract and one person to write to
When to book a family week for 2027
School holidays fix the weeks, and the five-cabin catamarans for late July and August go nine to twelve months ahead. Peak weeks for July and August 2027 are being contracted now, in the autumn of 2026; the five and six cabin yachts go first. Nine to fourteen months ahead for a peak week, six to nine for June and late September, three to four for May and October. Booking early buys first choice of yacht and week rather than a discount.
George's insider notes
- Ask which captain has run the yacht with children aboard and for how many seasons; the answer is the company's real product.
- Ask for the bays, not the ports: Zogeria, Vathi on Sifnos, Poliegos, Dokos, with sand under the keel at noon.
- Twelve guests is the legal limit on any charter yacht in Greece; two families of six fit a five-cabin catamaran with the children sharing.
- The APA on a Saronic family week sits at the low end of a catamaran's 20 to 30 percent because the legs are short.
Frequently asked
Questions we get about What Are the Best Yacht Charter Companies for a Family-Friendly Sailing Trip in the Aegean Sea?
What are the best yacht charter companies for a family sailing trip in the Aegean?
The ones that answer in writing which crew has run the yacht with children, which catamaran has the nets and the swim platform, which bays are calm and how short the legs are, and pass the four checks: a professional body listing, the MYBA Charter Agreement, a verifiable legal entity and an itemised proposal. George Yachts Brokerage House passes all four.
How much is a family catamaran charter in the Aegean?
From EUR 17,000 a week base for a 15 metre crewed catamaran with four cabins, from about EUR 22,000 a week all in, with the APA and the VAT included and the crew gratuity at your discretion; two families share one price per yacht, never by the head.
Which part of the Aegean is best for children?
The Saronic from Athens: Aegina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses and the Peloponnese coves, with no Meltemi and no leg over three hours. The western Cyclades in June and September are the step up.
Is the Meltemi dangerous for families?
It is a strong northerly in the Cyclades in July and August rather than a danger; the captains keep the islands in the lee and cross in the calm hours. The Saronic and the Ionian have none.
Can the crew cook for children?
The cook-hostess on a 15 to 17 metre catamaran feeds the children at six and the adults at nine as a matter of routine; a 20 metre catamaran adds a chef.
How do we start?
WhatsApp +1 786 798 8798 or george@georgeyachts.com with the dates, the adults and the children's ages; two or three real catamarans with their crews and the all-in week come back within twenty-four hours.
