June and September are the best Patmos months - perfect weather, the religious pilgrimage crowd absent, the chora quiet enough to walk. July and August Greek-domestic and European old-money visitors are present but never in numbers; the chora restaurants book 5-7 days ahead. Easter and the 15 August Panagia feast the religious-pilgrimage crowd intensifies; yacht clients should plan around these dates if seeking discretion.

- The Monastery of Saint John is the architectural anchor - a 30-minute uphill walk from Skala. The view from the monastery terrace at sunset is one of the great Aegean panoramas.
- Grikos Bay is the UHNW-summer-house anchorage. Anchor in 5-8m, tender into the village for dinner at Benetos or Patelas - both have UHNW-set regulars.
- Chora dinner: Lampi or Kafenes. Both small, both essential, both need 48-hour bookings in summer.
- Skala harbour has mediterranean-mooring; for larger yachts anchor in the bay and tender in. The harbour is the practical base but the chora (3 km uphill) is the experience.
- The Cave of the Apocalypse is between Skala and the chora - a quiet 20-minute visit, then continue uphill. Worth fitting in even for non-religious visitors.
